OCA elections: 11 valid candidates in fray for 6 posts

A total of 11 candidates will contest for six posts in the elections of office-bearers of Odisha Cricket Association, scheduled to be held on 27th September, 2019. This was announced by Electoral Officer Mr M L Majumdar after completion of scrutiny and withdrawal of candidature today.

According to the announcement, out of 12 nominations received for the six posts, 11 were found to be valid after the scrutiny. However, there was some objection against the nomination filed by Prasant Prasad Pattnaik for the post of Vice President.

But after indepth analysis of the criterion (ii), the Electoral Officer rejected the objections raised against the candidature of Sri Pattnaik and declared his nomination paper as valid.

However, the withdrawal of candidature by Prabhat Kumar Bhol for the post of Joint Secretary today reduced the total number of candidates to 11. Meanwhile, Suvashis Senapati was elected unopposed as Apex Council Member for one full term.

If elected, eight out of the remaining 10 candidates will remain in office for one full term. But Pradeep Chauhan, who is contesting for the post of President and Naba Ranjan Patnaik, who is in fray for the post of Secretary, the term of office will be 10 months nine days and two years respectively.

LIST OF VALID CANDIDATES:
President:
1. Pankaj Lochan Mohanty (If elected he will have one full term), 2. Pradeep Chauhan (If elected his term will be for 10 months and 9 days only, on completion of which he will demit the office immediately).
Vice President: 1. Akshaya Kumar Samant (If elected he will have one full term), 2. Prasant Prasad Pattnaik (If elected he will have one full term).
Secretary: 1. Naba Ranjan Pattnaik (If elected his term will be for two years only, on the completion of which he will demit the office immediately), 2. Sanjay Behera (If elected he will have one full term).
Joint Secretary: 1. Mehtab Khan (If elected he will have one full term), 2. Sujit Kumar Pradhan (If elected he will have one full term).
Treasurer: 1. Anil Kumar Biswal (If elected he will have one full term), 2. Bikash Pradhan (If elected he will have one full term).
